ICC Women’s World Cup fever hits SA

THE EXCITEMENTcontinues in South Africa and across the globe as the nation edges closer to one of the most significant cricket events in women’s sports.

As the official 20-day countdown begins on 21 January 2023, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 will be celebrating this iconic milestone with an afternoon of beach cricket on Camps Bay Beach on Saturday, 21 January, from 15:00 – 18:00.

With the 20 day-countdown fast approaching, beach cricket is an excellent opportunity to build fan involvement and rally fan support and engagement ahead of the extravaganza. It is time for Capetonians to turn up the vibes, and show off their skills by joining Anele Mdoda; award-winning content creator, Nadia Jaftha; one of SA’s most dynamic performers, Siv Ngesi; award-winning musician, Holly Rey and the spectacular voice of the official tournament anthem, Rouge for an afternoon of beach cricket.

A friendly match situated in the hub of Cape Town, for cricket fans and beyond, it is set to be an afternoon filled with summer vibes, entertainment and surprise guests.

TV and radio presenter, Anele Mdoda is looking forward to seeing all the fans #TurnItUp for a tournament that will profile women’s sports in the country. “I am very excited and cannot believe that we only have 20 days remaining until South Africa gets to host an epic Women’s T20 World Cup. I can’t wait to get down and dirty in the sand and show off my cricket skills this weekend and I hope to see cricket fans and beyond coming through to turn it up,” shares Mdoda.

Described as being one of the most competitive demonstrations of women’s cricket, the Proteas, in their honour, will be hosting the eighth edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2023 in their backyard and welcome some of the greatest national cricket teams such as England, Sri Lanka, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh, Ireland, and defending champions, Australia.

Fans are encouraged to #TurnItUp in support of the event and their favourite teams and players, who will be in action in 23 matches over 15 days.

Tickets across the three venues – Newlands, Boland Park and St George’s Park – are available at stadium ticket offices and online via https://womens.t20worldcup.com/tickets
