MK Party wins legal battle on logo trademarks

“I AM over the moon. We are unstoppable,” says MK Party leader Jabulani Khumalo.

This follows the African National Congress losing the trademark legal battle (with costs) against the MK Party that played out itself today, at the Durban High Court.

The MK Party pointed out that the ANC did not own the trademark.

At pains is the registration of MK Party as a political party, of which former President Jacob Zuma’s face will be on the ballot paper during elections.

Khumalo said the ANC was trying to interrupt its election campaign programme and the party would now focus on the elections.

The ruling party’s argument was that both the logo and name were its trademarks.

The ANC in its response said the MK Party wanted to confuse voters ahead of the elections.

MK Party was represented by seasoned advocate Dali Mpofu.

ANC’s SG- Fikile Mbalula confirmed they will review and challenge the court’s outcome.
