Lets ‘Live Again’ and tell SA stories as 2022 Tourism Indaba takes shape

This was confirmed by the organisers South African Tourism, who also confirmed 47 countries will be part of the exhibition.

It has been pencilled from May 3 to 5 at its historical venue Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Center Durban.

In his address the South African Tourism acting chief executive officer and current CMO, Themba Khumalo, said South Africa is ready to welcome guests from all over the world.

“Africa’s Travel Indaba is not a South African trade show, but an African exhibition that welcomes everyone. It is specifically tailored to advancing the continent’s tourism sector needs, with a clear outlook towards recovery. 

“We believe that this platform will showcase authentic African experiences and products. Buyers from across the globe will have access to only the best and uniquely African products and experiences.”

He also told this reporter that investment opportunities means more creation of jobs, economic stability, amongst others.

This years’ theme Africa Stories- simply depicts mzansi’s authenticity.

Durban Tourism deputy head of Tourism, Winile Mntungwa says as the agency they have all their ducks in the row in making sure all logistics such as safety is efficient and seamless, considering the number of guests expected.

“Our call to everyone particularly SMMEs, is come in big numbers to be part of this exhibition as it will expose your brand to the world. SA is innovative and that’s what the global markets are yearning for,” says Mntungwa.

Over 400 African exhibitors and 454 buyers, from 47 countries around the world have confirmed to attend this year’s Travel Indaba, and this includes Botswana, Nigeria, Ghana, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands, and others.

“This years’ Africa’s Travel Indaba will reposition KZN to its global markets and will highlight key tourism developments that have emerged in the province in the past two years,” says Tourism KwaZulu-Natal’s Pinky Radebe, Senior Manager: PR and Communications.

The three-day exhibition stand to generate millions into the coffers of the province.

Africa’s Travel Indaba continues its commitment to empowering small and lesser known businesses in the tourism sector.

On a lighter note- everyone heaped praise and also sent their congratulatory messages to Durban township born DJ Black Coffee-Nkosinathi Maphumulo on winning his first Grammy award and “thank him for continuously putting SA on the international radar”.
