Made in mzansi by Menlyn celebrates young, hard working retailers in Tshwane

WE’RE PROUD to be part of celebrating and preserving our culture, especially from youth’s point of view.”

This was the reaction of one of the co-owners for Konkhe kuhamba Kahle retail store, at the recent launch of Made in Mzansi, by Menlyn” held at the popular and bustling Menlyn Park, an iconic shopping center in the heart of Tshwane.

Menlyn made it their mission to launch this empowering initiative during the month of September, which is dedicated to celebrating South African Heritage – offering the perfect canvas from which to launch.

The following operate under the “Made in Mzansi, by Menlyn” umbrella:

Made in Mzansi, by Menlyn” aims to provide the discerning Menlyn shopper with a hub of impressive local retail brands.

The brands themselves have been given a leg-up to level up by Menlyn, to assist them in paving their way to an even brighter future. The mammoth center offered these local businesses access to their very own retail incubation program.

The program is centered around equipping these business owners with a retail mentorship that endeavors to arm them with the necessary skills to conquer the world of retail.

Menlyn is bursting with pride to see how the program has empowered these businesses by taking them from either an online platform or an informal retail setting to brick-and-mortar stores in the largest shopping center in Africa.

At the launch it was pomp and ceremony as guests feasted on African cuisine and flowing champagne as models strut their stuff.

“We urge the immediate Menlyn community to make it their mission to visit the Centre this month to come and scope out the Made-in-Mzansi stores. Trust me, you are in for a spoil! My team has been hard at work curating an impressive collection of local Tshwane retailers.

As for the rest of South Africa, I urge the same of you – when you’re in the 012 district, head over to Menlyn and pay these stores a visit.

I am not only excited to see this project come to fruition for the sake of my Menlyn shoppers; but I am also incredibly proud to see great local brands pioneering the retail space in our Centre,” says Nisha Kemraj, General Manager of Menlyn Park Shopping Centre.

Pareto Limited, which owns and manages Menlyn Park Shopping Centre, is invested in growing people through properties that shape the South African horizon having done so for the past 20 years.

Guests and some of the onlookers went home with goodie bag decorated with top brands.
