Mahindra South Africa this week announced that it will return as the Official Vehicle Partner for the seventh season of Survivor, called Island of Secrets, and that it will sponsor a KUV100 NXT to the contestant who wins the Mahindra Fan Favourite Competition.
Last year, the overall winner Tom Swartz won the KUV100 NXT, while a lucky viewer that voted for Tom won a new Mahindra XUV500. For Survivor: Island of Secrets, one fan who votes for the fan favourite will win Mahindra’s all-new bold and dynamic XUV300, which will be launched in South Africa at the end of May.
“We are very excited to sponsor the new season of Survivor,” says Rajesh Gupta, CEO of Mahindra South Africa. “There is such a perfect brand fit between the spirit of endurance and adventure that has become synonymous with the Survivor franchise, and which echoes with Mahindra’s brand positioning in South Africa as a true challenger brand”
Mahindra adopted its positioning with the launch of new campaign last year of being “Always Up For A Challenge” , after growing its market share significantly in a shrinking and hotly contested vehicle market, emerging as second fastest growing OEM in South Africa.
This year, viewers can vote for their favourite contestant in an online poll. The votes are tallied over all the episodes and each vote ensures a place in the final random draw. In this draw, a viewer who voted in the competition will be picked for the Fan Favourite grand prize.
“Viewers who would like to vote would be well advised to visit their nearest Mahindra dealer and test drive one of our new Mahindra vehicles. By joining our test drive programme, you receive an additional 10 entries in the competition,” says Gupta.
The XUV300 will become a centrepiece of Mahindra’s prime time advertising during the 18 week Survivor series. Built on Mahindra’s global X100 platform, the XUV300 will offer some of the best performance and fuel consumption figures of any compact SUV in the market.
“We are very excited about the new XUV300. It will be launched in a highly contested market segment and will be very well equipped and competitively priced. We believe that it will have everything necessary to outwit and outlast its competitors in the market.”
The seventh Survivor series was shot in February and March this year on the very remote island of Samoa. The series kicks off tonight and will run for 18 weekly episodes, culminating in the grand finale in September 2019, where Mahindra will also hand over the prize vehicles to the Fan Favourite contestant and one public voter who voted for that fan favourite.
