The new facility includes a football pitch and a basketball court.

NBA Vice President and Managing Director for Africa, Amadou Gallo Fall, Charlotte Hornets’ Bismack Biyombo and President of the Toronto Raptors, Masai Ujiri, attended the official opening.

The event also featured a performance from Yvonne Chaka Chaka.

In partnership with Sauti Kuu, Masai Ujiri’s Giants of Africa Foundation launched the new basketball facility.

Barack Obama engaged with the youth on the court during a basketball clinic, before leaving for Kisumu.

Obama was in Johannesburg where he delivered the 16th annual Nelson Mandela Lecture at the Wanderers Stadium.

Bismack Biyombo of the DRC will represent Team Africa in the third NBA Africa Game, played in support of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, to take place at Sun Arena at Time Square in Pretoria on 4 August.

Masai Ujiri will once again serve as the Basketball Without Borders Africa Camp Director (1-4 August, American International School, Johannesburg).
