PSL match delayed after refs arrested!

The match was due to kickoff at 3pm but, according to MTNFootball.com, the car the referees were travelling in had been reported stolen.

“The car transporting the referees to the game was reported stolen and as a result the match officials were reportedly arrested and taken to a police station in Pretoria.”

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) later confirmed another set of referees were called on to do duty in the game.

PSL General Manager Derek Blackensee, meanwhile, did confirm the officials were later released.

“Good co-operation between senior police and the League today to get our match officials released. Thanks to all,” tweeted Blackensee.

“Thanks also to both sets of match officials – the original team and the substitute team that rushed to Rustenburg to rescue the situation,” added Blackensee.

PSL head of communications Lux September said the PSL could not comment on the matter until they had found out all the facts. He added the PSL would later send out a statement on the matter.
