This follows the drubbing of Northern Cape amateur club Powerlines FC 24-0 this past weekend. Clearly, they lacked prowess and felt powerless!
Now that, Downs’ made history books thanks to the players’ who took this game too seriously, its back to the real deal as they prepare for the Premier League clash against Wits next Tuesday (16 March) at Loftus Stadium.
With such vigour and discipline -which headcoach Johan Neeskens should be applauded for instilling in the team- could result in Downs’ re-claiming the league honours.
In such games usually players’ would display all kinds of ‘showboating and tsamayas’ but that was not the case with Downs’ players’ instead they wanted to show the young-ones how its done. For that, the team simply scores high-fives!
As for Wits and other teams breathing heavily on the teams’ neck vying for the league honours, Downs has indicated they mean business, as the President and mining mogul Patrice Motsepe has vowed.
