Sho’t Left campaign exposes hidden gems in the EC

We bring the #ShotLeft team- We explore it right.

Eh, bare Mpuma-Koloni are you Ready? ARE YOU READY? read a twitter from one of guests obviously hosted by South African Tourism.

Last month, in partnership with leading mobile giant Huawei they ordered a handful members of the fourth estate, influencers, bloggers to the Mpuma Koloni (Eastern Cape) for a treat. Rightfully so.

The fundamental objective was two fold: capture majestic images using the Huawei P30 Pro; and to unearth tourist destinations in the province.

We also passed the famous Jeffrey’s Bay but due to arduous driving upon arrival from the tiny PE airport to Tsitsikama, we had to take a rain-check.

The three-day tour took us on an adventure to various tourism destinations and hidden gems such as Tsitsikama Segway Tours, Bungee Jumping and painting the Port Elizabeth town red.

Situated in Stormsriver Village and at Tsitsikamma Backpackers, it offers 1 & 2 hour fully guided segway tours through the bush.

A Segway is a 2-wheeled, self-balancing, battery-powered, green personal transporter. Totally fun, addictive and the perfect family adventure! Yes, at first yours truly (and others) had jitters cos’ it was a first time experience but eventually warmed up to it thanks to our able tour guide.

The famous Tsitsikama Bridge was used to film the current Ad for the SAT.

Huawei chief technology officer – consumer business group SA, Akhram Mohamed and I, were always on the leading pack to such an extend the group tried to ‘sway‘ him to present me with a P30 Pro. If only horses were wishes…

Mohamed indicated Huawei was committed to catering to the needs of South African consumers, and the partnership with South African Tourism on the Sho’t left campaign would further entrench the brand as something to associate with.

The Sho’t Left campaign aims to make tourism/travel accessible to everyone.

“Whether you are in the Eastern Cape or watching the wildlife at the Kruger National Park, South Africa is a wonderland of unforgettable experiences. Expand your horizons and explore this beautiful land. It is just a Sho’t Left away,” once commented Sisa Ntshona, whose suspension at SAT as chief executive remains a mystery.

From well deserved massages to painting the town red (yes, some of the ‘Red Berets’ headhonchos were in the area as part of their general elections voting campaign trail) and sleepless nights, one can attest that EC has a lot to offer, although it beats the hell out of me why it still remains one of the least visited provinces in the country?

After some mini photographic classes, the group was encouraged to enter a competition by capturing astounding images and the winner took home a Huawei P30 Pro.

Albeit I might not have won this magical gadget, but the sojourn was worth a while.

Mpuma Koloni, I shall not rest ‘till we meet up again soon…!

Sydney was hosted by SAT & Huawei SA.
