Soweto Tattoo Convention prepares for its fourth edition- as founders ready to change the narrative on tattoo culture

His high school-mate and partner Sibusiso Dlamini initiated the idea to demystify the thought that while many think of a dingy backroom or garage when they hear of a tattoo parlour in the hood, they wanna professionalise it, having boasted clientele such as Burna Boy, AKA, Priddy Ugly and Gigi Lamayne, among other stars.

To further augment the seriousness on the business they will be hosting their fourth annual African tattoo culture and lifestyle event- Soweto Ink Convention, November 30TH at GOG Gardens on R559 Zuurbekom road.

According to Ndumiso (33) originally from a small township in KZN called Gamalakhe, the former IT guy says, the interest of hosting The Soweto Ink Tattoo was born after seeing a bigger need to grow the tattoo culture in Soweto since such events are normally big and held only abroad.

As such Soweto Ink Tattoo Convention is the first of its kind and the biggest in Africa, says Ndumiso.

It provides lifestyle, educating and addressing health and safety matters in the industry, socially.

For the past four years since its inception, the convention draws crowds from tattoo artists from all over the world, top entertainment from DJ’s, live bands and performances.

But if you’re too scared to go under the needle, like many of us, we think it’s best that you celebrate this dynamic duo who continue to change the township narrative when it comes to tattoo culture…
