Big stars came to play. World’s top ranked tennis stars Serena Williams and Novak Djokovic (in a cap) attended the launch of tennis academy in Seychelles recently.

Tennis ranked No1 Novak Djokovic and current title holder Serena Williams, graced the ceremony that was hosted by Seychelles Tourism and Mauritius Tourism Promotional Authority.

The grand opening of the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy also coincided with this year’s French Tourism Trade Fair of Paris.

“This is our main source market, as we are looking at again to increase direct non-stop flights with Air Seychelles between Paris and Seychelles, we need to leave no stones unturned in our work to continue to claim our fair share of this important market,” says Minister of Tourism in Seychelles Alain St.Ange.

“Developing sports tourism is interesting for Seychelles because the islands have perfect facilities, perfect all-year-round summer weather and have the most pleasant of environments.

We cannot say it often enough but in the troubled world we are living in today Seychelles, remains a safe tourism destination and we are a visa free country. We now need to get on sports celebrity circuit.

Being present at this grand opening of the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy is just timely,” he said.
