The Glenlivet Jazz Town party up a storm at the SunMet

Jazz guru Judith Sephuma was the draw card at The Glenlivet Marquee-Cape Town. She’s seen getting down with another jazz great.

Jazz lovers and socialites gathered to enjoy an unforgettable day of show-stopping performances by a line-up of South Africa’s top jazz musicians, against the spectacular backdrop of the Kenilworth Race Course.

While award-winning jazz vocalist, Nomfundo Xaluvu and Cape Town’s original “Saxy vibes” wizard Don Vino Prins captivated the sophisticated audience with their smooth, sultry performances, it was headline acts, the legendary Judith Sephuma and darling of the SA music scene, Jimmy Nevis who had jazz lovers and SA’s top socialites on their feet and grooving to well-known tracks like ‘A Cry, A Smile and a Dance’, and Jimmy’s hit single ‘Heartboxing.’

Guests soaking up the jazzy vibes, delectable cuisine and fine whisky rubbed shoulders with some of Mzansi’s top celebs, with Afternoon Express’s Bonnie Mbuli and Leigh-Anne Williams, ex-beauty queen Lee-Anne Liebenberg, actors Lunga Shabalala and Stevel Marc, and Mzansi Magic’s Zizipho Buti, of Nkululeko fame all spotted at the marquee mingling and having fun on the dance floor to the beats of DJ’s Kenzhero, Major League, Sumbody and Lulo Café.

Says Eugene Lenford, brand manager The Glenlivet Whisky: “We set out to offer lovers of the jazz lifestyle a truly original experience, with soul-stirring moments that would add meaning and ultimately pleasure to their lives. Once again, The Glenlivet has set the standard, with this first-of-its-kind jazz experience that adds a sophisticated dimension to this stylish event”.

There’s no doubt that The Glenlivet Whisky has struck gold with this marriage of world-class original jazz and the ultimate social experience – placing jazz centre-stage at South Africa’s most prolific horse-racing event.

And yes, all The Glenlivet brands flowed like there ain’t tomorrow- talk of saving water in CT as we imbibed until your throat could no longer imbibe a thing…
