With that out of the way, one of the leading Scot’s whiskies in the world unveiled their latest The Nàdurra First Fill- a single malt to mzansi.
The Nàdurra brand was launched internationally in 2004 and now, after launching its new range elsewhere in the world two years ago, it was South Africa’s turn.
At an exclusive launch in Sandton, guests –elite for that matter- came in droves to witness the heralding of The Glenlivet -First Fill, one of three top-tier craft whiskies in the new Nàdurra range: Nàdurra Oloroso Matured and the Peated Whisky Cask Finish.
Nàdurra is Scottish lyrically meaning natural!
So, this means whenever you down the contents of this latest product be sure not to use any water or ice-cubes as a dash.
This, according to Peter Methven- The Glenlivet ambassador, means it must be natural. “Everything is and must be natural. This is what Nàdurra stands for,” he said in a very thick Scottish accent.
The Nàdurra First Fill is drawn from casks of American White Oak that have never before been used to age Scotch whisky. Crafted in an age-old tradition and in small batches, the Nàdurra range gets its name from the Gaelic word meaning ‘natural’.
Unlike most modern whiskies, it has not been chill-filtered. The result is a single malt of distinctive taste and flavour.
“The idea with the launch event was to create an evening of rare experiences that reflect the whisky itself. The skill and time invested in the making of each bottle means the whisky is only available in very limited quantities,” says The Glenlivet Brand Manager Eugene Lenford.
To prep up the evening the NW born entertainer (apparently he’s on a mission to shed some kilos) Hip Hop Panstsula and the evergreen SSQ gave a resounding performance.
It must be noted that HHP has been doing lots of whisky launches lately, that shows the blend of young and old. Jameson Caskmate was his previous gig or does this has to do with the fact that, both brands are marketed and distributed by world’s leading Penord Ricard, it does make sense now, isn’t?
Although Methven, did not indicate how many units will be in-stores and when will other brands be available since these are limited editions, The Glenlivet Nàdurra First Fill is now available in the market for R800.
“When you make it this way, there’s not that much to go around”, so goes the slogan.
