The real Soweto derby: Who will come-out tops tonight?

The Buccaneers are up against Moroka Swallows tonight, while the Amakhosi face Platinum Stars, and both teams have key players’ one yellow card away from suspension.

This will be a litmus test for Pirates new coach Vladimir Vermezonic, who has signed a three-year contract with former PSL champs. He’s a former Chiefs mentor.

Although, he hasn’t given any media interviews lately VV, as he’s known has reportedly told players’ to play an attacking football.

Whether tonight clash against the wounded host Birds- players will heed the call- remains to be seen.

Both sides have been blowing hot and cold-that’s if this weather has anything to do with the clash- but tonight we expect a handful of goals.

With Andile Jali now plying his trade in Belgium (having recovered from a fatal car crash recently) Bucs will have to dig deep and find the solace in the capable hands of Oupa Manyesa, Lehlohonolo “Viera” Masalesa and tough as a sugar-cain captain defender Lucky Lekgwathi.

Would the ‘problem child’ Lehlohonolo Majoro be in the starting line-up it’s mainly up to VV who both at Chiefs did not see eye to eye.

On the other, Birds who lost their VW sponsor recently are having sleepless nights as well.

They haven’t banging goals as last season.

Ever-green Siyabonga “Bhele” Nomvethe, Lerato Chabangu-who seem to rise to the occasion when chips are down –and on loan Edward Manqele, should bring their scoring boots tonight.

For Pirates, they will be playing two tough PSL assignments in week as they face Amakhosi on Saturday at FNB stadium.

Because both sides are on slippery mode, a win for either side will bring smiles to their fans!

The game starts 7:30 at Dobsonville Stadium.

Other PSL games: Celtic vs Polokwane City, Chiefs vs Platinum Stars, Arrows vs Black Aces.
