The sun sets on Sun Int’l as it shut doors until level 4 lockdown regulations are ‘hospitable’

The hospitality group like any other sector is facing economic challenges and to keep their heads above the tidal wave, resorted to shut down. Initially it suggested operating restaurants but shot down the idea.

The regulations allow hotels to operate but casinos and restaurants must close and the sale of alcohol is prohibited.

A curfew of 9pm to 4am applies.

According to Leeming, the company will reopen if restrictions are lifted after the two-week period.

“Hotel reservations may be rescheduled or cancelled without charge, with full refunds of deposits paid.

This is the second time closing all resorts and hotels … We hope it’s only two weeks… We can help our employees, unlike small businesses…” he was quoted.

He said most of “our customers come from Gauteng… Our customers are checking out, there’s no need in staying open”.

Most of its portfolios caters for international markets.

Sun International operates hotels and resorts globally.
