Is Baxter staying or going?

Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter is in demand at SAFA and ultimatums are being put.

This follows news that Baxter, who won the PSL title and Nedbank Cup with Amakhozi upon his return to the country, has been offered the plum job of technical director at the football association.

The Englishman has a two-year deal with Chiefs.

Ultimatums from SAFA, is that Baxter should make up his mind before the announcement of new Bafana coach next week, when boss Danny Jordaan returns from Brazil World Cup.

“He’s considered a reputable candidate and his development ethics is what SAFA is looking for,” says an impeccable SAFA source.

However, at Chiefs new jersey launch yesterday the club’s marketing director Jessica Motaung is reported to have poured cold water on such talks.

She insisted they still have a two-year contract running with him, without answering how they would handle the situation should Baxter decide to leave the Naturena side.

Unconfirmed reports are that Baxter is unhappy at the club and has been overlooked when signing new players -a mandate which lies entirely with Bobby Motaung.

According to ‘Bob-Steak’ as Bobby is known to fans- the coach has not uttered a word to us and management about a possible offer from SAFA.

Is there a cold war between the two, only Baxter’s move shall tell?

With only weeks to go before the PSL season kicks-off, my advice to ‘Phefeni Glamour Boys’ is to start searching for a new head-coach.

Should Baxter leave he would have hit Chiefs with a sucker-punch…

Indeed, were there is smoke there is fire!
