Macy Gray and other influential stars to grace the Delicious Food fest!

macy_grayThe taste-bud and earbud tantalizing food and music fest has to date proven to be one of the most popular events of its kind on the South African social calendar – with an estimated 40 000 people expected to attend the upcoming edition.

“The prime location, international recognition, world class facilities, along with its nine entry and exit points make the newly-revamped circuit the ideal venue for this prestigious festival that fuses flavor some and fashion foods with eclectic entertainment that pleases both customary and contemporary tastes”, says Lloyd Cornwell, festival director of the DStv Delicious Festival.

“We take our patrons’ feedback very seriously which is why we decided to move the event to October to take advantage of the warmer weather and longer days. We believe that the time of the year combined with the centrally located and iconic venue will attract even more enthusiasts looking for a gastronomical feast blended with a world-class entertainment line-up,” added Cornwell.

“We are delighted to host this important event at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit”, stated the general manager, Dennis Klopper. Alexandra Mayne, head of banqueting and marketing added, “Such a significant event showcases the exciting opportunities offered by the Kyalami facility, to both organisers and visitors looking for top level events.”

If the Highveld weather week long forecast is anything to go by – it looks like revelers, gourmets, kids and out-of-towners should brace themselves for an explosion of a plausible kind of assaults to both their taste buds and earbuds come the weekend!

Visitors will be treated to an international line-up of both celebrity chefs manning different restaurant stations as well as that of a formidable mix of musicians and DJs spread across separate stages on the Saturday and Sunday.

The foodie aspect of the extravaganza will be hosted by wizards such as Callie-Anne Cook, Sarah Graham to locals such as Reuben Riffel and muso-cum-chef, J’Something of MiCasa fame.

All the while the likes of Macy Gray, Roy Ayers, Elements of Life, The Jacksons, Hugh Masekela, Judith Sephuma, Lira, Arrested Development and De la Soul will ensure that the universal food of love, namely music – is sufficiently fed to the guests’ contentment!

A Kaya Dance Stage will feature an incredible line-up of South African top DJs such as DJ Katz, Just Themba, MoG, The Rhythm Session, etc.

The festival promises to pander to anyone’s whim, which extends to those of carefree mites accompanying adults – since provision in the form of a kids’ zone will be offered for their convenience.  Equally, there’ll be hospitality spaces to cater for those with a taste for the finer fascinations of life.

It is at the festival that visitors will also get to witness a rare occurrence of enjoying the talents of a local celebrity strutting his stuff on two fronts when J’Something is due at some stage to swop his kitchen apron in order to join his MiCasa band mates at one of the stages – to belt out familiar household hits.

Trailblazer. Bra Hugh Oupa Masekela, will share the stage alongside Macy Gray, The Jacksons, Lira, Arrested Development, etc at the much awaited music fest in Midrand, this weekend.

Apart from singing obligations, the affable dude with the metrosexually trimmed facial hair will host one of the celebrity restaurants named, Something’s Cooking by J’Something, and according to the programme, promises to wow hungry stomachs with dishes such as: Mom’s Grilled Prawns, African Kebab Trio, Mains of Portuguese Chicken and Curried Grilled Cauliflower Steaks – whilst he rounds off diners’ senses with desserts such as Amarula Crème Brullee!

There is a price though for an opportunity to feast at the different restaurants, which will be serving lunch and dinner, and the spaces can only accommodate a certain number at any given time throughout the weekend passes.

It is the largest non-motoring event scheduled to take place at Kyalami this year.
