Would Downs’ use this game to improve their domestic league campaign?

The Amakhosi’s eight-game run without defeat in all competitions came to an end earlier this month, as they were beaten on penalties by Free State Stars, but they do still have an impressive run going in the league.

Avoiding defeat against Masandawana on Saturday would see them go eight games unbeaten for just the second time since Steve Komphela’s arrival at Naturena, and for the first time since his opening months at the club.

As things stand, Chiefs currently find themselves in third place on the league table after eight games, and they could leap above Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United if results go their way this weekend.

However, recent history is not in the Glamour Boys’ favour when it comes to facing the Brazilians, with Komphela yet to beat them in three attempts since his arrival, and the club having only won one their last six games against Pitso Mosimane’s side.

The CAF champs host Chiefs at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday afternoon at 15h30.
