Cape Town Jazz goes on despite load-shedding shenanigans

This is the assurance from the organisers of the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, despite the threat of load shedding.

The jazz festival is scheduled from March 29 to 30, 2019 at the Cape Town ICC.

espAfrika organisers of the jazz festival say that they have put in place generators to ensure the events go on without any disruptions.

“I can assure everyone that the festival will continue. We have a lot of generators that we’ve brought in for the different venues, things will continue according to plan and people really don’t have to worry. In fact, if you want electricity, the festival is the place to be.”

The CTIJF features local and international stars such as draw card Chaka Khan, Shekinah, Moonchild, Eliane Elias, Jonathan Butler, Gipsy Kings, Tuku Music (in honour of the late Zim star Oliver Mtukudzu), and others.

Khan the “I’m Every Woman, Tell Me Something Good” star had to enter rehabilitation center in 2016, reportedly saying has been battling an addiction to the same medication that led to Prince’s death and that his passing had spurred her decision to seek treatment

The two-day fest will use Cashless system- tap and go- for the safety of thousands of revellers anticipated at what is aptly coined “Africa’s Grandest Gathering” that’s celebrating its 20th edition.

The fest contributes millions into the coffers of the WC province annually, and according to Wesgro such initiatives also improves both the economy and tourism.
