Hector Pieterson Primary benefits Samson’s donation

Known for its staple product, The Samson Dungaree, which is associated with the iconic image of Mbuyisa Makhubu carrying Hector Pieterson after being shot during the 1976 Soweto Uprising protest, it’s only apt that the brand donates to the school named after the iconic hero.

On the 10th November 2020, Samson took the initiative to donate R10 000 to Hector Pieterson Primary school in Dobsonville Soweto.

Attended by brand ambassador and actor Eric Macheru, he voiced that “The Samson brand has built a legacy through Hector, and partnering with the school was an extension of that”.

The proceedings were led by the school’s principal Mr Mzingisi Bonogo who cited how grateful they were for the brand’s donation, and how he hopes the learners will carry Hector Pieterson’s legacy and understand their history.

In addition to the R10 000, Samson also donated 5000 face masks to the school including Macheru who pledged an additional R2 000.

The pupils were delighted at the opportunity to interact with favourite actor and had a chance to showcase their dancing skills in a dance challenge whilst they enjoyed complimentary snacks.
