SOUTH AFRICA is now open for more business and eventing opportunities.
On Wednesday, the minister of Health Dr Joe Phaahla announced all Covid-19 regulations will be scrapped.
This means wearing of masks is no longer mandatory and stadiums, events and other business conferences can now go full capacity.
Travellers entering SA will no longer be liable to produce entry requirements.
Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) CE Tshifhiwa Tshivhengwa, has welcomed the move, and said this will now open for more business opportunities in the country.
“As the council that oversees many tourism businesses in the country, we’re over the moon on the scrapping of the Covid 19 regulations; as it has hampered tourism and particularly small enterprises within the tourism sector, who could not operate at full steam,” he said.
“For us, it means we’re now full hands on the deck, as we try and mitigate what we all went through. Its back to our plans on mapping way forwards and the expectations thereof, including more inbounds destined for SA” says Tshivhengwa, who said billions were lost as a result of the pandemic and economy could no longer afford to bleed further.
It is expected at least 30 border posts that were closed during the pandemic would be re-opened as a result of repeal.
Meanwhile, the SA rugby has welcomed the move and swiftly promised that all Boks tournament games starting July 2 will be a ‘full-house’.
