Tshwane to host Gauteng Sports Awards for the very first time

THE GAUTENG Sports Awards are set to take place in the City of Tshwane for the first-time next week for the 11th edition of the prestigious awards ceremony.

It will be held at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) Soshanguve Campus, in the City of Tshwane on Saturday 18, February.

Gauteng citizens are encouraged to vote for their sport favourites to win in the Sport Personality of the Year category.

The contenders include Blind-cricketer Asanda Bidla, cyclist Pieter Du Preez, Banyana Banyana star Andile Dlamini and swimming champion Lara van Niekerk.

Members of the public can vote via sms on 36199 at the cost R1.50 per message by the closing date of 28 January 2023.

Best performing Gauteng based sports stars will battle it out for top honours in 19 categories.

Organized by the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation with support from the provincial Sport Confederation, the main aim of the GSA is to recognise and honour individuals, teams and organizations in the sports sector who have excelled both on and off the field on an annual basis.
