Africa Day celebrated!

Pres GJ Zuma, addressing crowds at the Africa Day Celebrations in Pretoria, yesterday.

“We are Africa: Opening the doors of learning and culture from Cape to Cairo” has kicked off in song and dance at the University of Pretoria on Sunday ahead of Africa Day on May 25.

President Jacob Zuma, AU Chair Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, International Relations Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane were among the high profile delegates who took to the stage and showed off some dance moves.

Earlier, people waited patiently in long queues to enter the hall where the event was taking place. Zuma was leading the ceremony.

Every year, the world celebrates African Day.

The Day is commemorated within Africa and amongst African Diaspora in order to encourage the rapprochement of African people and of African origin in view of acting together to reinforce African unity, promote peace and stability for the development and socio-economic progress of the Continent.
