Senegal simply known as ‘Lions of Teranga’, prepares for nail-biting 2025 Total Energies AFCON Cup finale against host ‘Atlas Lions of Morocco’, on Sunday.
Currently No. 1 in Africa four years’ consecutively, Morroco are patched No. 11 on World rankings, and Senegal number 2 in Africa and 19th globally.
This shows the pedigree both sides possess and influential players, whom most are European and EPL based.
Morocco sealed their place in Sunday’s showpiece in Rabat by edging Nigeria 4–2 on penalties after a goalless draw following extra time.
In Tangier earlier on Wednesday, Senegal booked their return to the AFCON final with a narrow 1–0 victory over Egypt, thanks to a thunder strike from former Liverpool star Sadio Mane.
Sunday’s final will see Morocco attempt to complete a memorable home campaign against a Senegal side aiming to reclaim the title they won in 2021.
The final will be played on Sunday, 18 January, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
Meanwhile, Egypt and Nigeria will contest the third-place play-off on Saturday, 17at the Mohammed V Stadium in Casablanca.
