With Kaizer Chiefs defender Tshepo Masilela’s future in Bafana Bafana set-up hanging in balance, Ajax Amsterdam player Thulani Serero has been given a green light to join the team.
Bafana travel face Mauritania for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, away on Saturday evening.
The midfielder has not
featured for his club either due to injury.
The Dutch giants had sent SAFA a letter stating Serero would be unavailable for the game because of this, but SAFA requested the player arrive for a medical assessment.
He subsequently took part in training and has been declared fit for the match by the Bafana medical team.
As for Masilela, Chiefs’ Bobby Motaung has said if SAFA wants to communicate with them, they know the channel instead of media.
The Kaizer Chiefs left-back reportedly has a knee injury, but SAFA wanted to conduct their own medical assessment, for which the player is yet to arrive.
“The player is injured nothing else,” said Motaung.
Coach Shakes Mashaba is unhappy with Masilela’s attitude towards the call-ups having snubbed them in the past.
Bafana left for Mauritania this morning.
On their return Bafana will play Senegal in the Nelson Mandela Challenge match at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday, 8 September.
Kickoff is at 19h00.
