Bye-bye Igesund!

Having dismally to meet his mandate, the Durban born coach was given the boot.

The national executive committee of SAFA mentioned that his contract won’t be renewed.

This was made on Monday at the SAFA’s head offices.

According to SAFA boss Danny Jordaan:” His termination date remains at the end of August.

“The process of finding a new coach will start immediately.”

Igesund was on a two-year contract and was tasked with reaching the semi-finals of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and to qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil of which he did not.

Reports last week suggested Igesund would be replaced by former Bafana coach, Carlos Queiroz, who is currently in charge of the Iranian team taking part in the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil.

Other names bandied about were Nigeria’s coach Stephen Keshi and current South African under-20 and under-23 coach Shakes Mashaba.

Bafana has had 22 coaches in 23 years’.

Whether SAFA decides to hunt local or international coach- the team needs urgent revitalization.

Amen!
