David Tlale, Avon SA take Xipelani skirt to another level

Not that I’m complaining cos I was spoilt with champopo and other top range
drinks, and was on assignment. Who would blame it on the birthday boy?

The marriage between these two top brands that started this year in the
form of eye-wear launch, has now resulted in another campaign which is a
celebration of women who are a reflection of what it’s like to be
successful after being underrated for a long time.

Adhering to Covid-19 regulations considering the guests list, the intimate
affair launch had tote bags, sling bags, sunglasses, a caftan, watches and
a fragrance called Exotic, by David Tlale x Avon, for him and her. To
further add ‘cherry on top of my cake’ a live performance from a Xibelani
dancers inside the pool, and a star-studded fashion show rounded off the
day.

But the launch would have been incomplete had the summer collection of
Xibelani- a Tsonga skirt had not made headlines. Loved it.

“The inspiration behind the collection Xibelani skirt, is a Tsonga
celebration skirt that women wear for their dances, or sometimes as normal
regalia daily and fusing it with the underwater, making sure it becomes
trendy, fashionable, and globally appealing,” says David Tlale, in his
designer sunglasses.

Ever buoyant Bridget Bhengu, Avon Justine communications director, was
quoted as having said: “The reason we chose David Tlale was to bring access
to what people would think was otherwise for the elite. We strongly believe
in empowering women. We also wanted to promote inclusion and make sure that
our representatives are empowered.”

Ahh, TV actor Vuyo Dabula, a proud MoTswana from Mahikeng lightheartedly
confessed to yours truly that he’s prepared to .swop roles and consider
modeling in future’ as he cooled off the sweat with a strong shot at the
bar- “a re itumelele letsatsi la gago ka seno tsedidi”, he murmured in
mother tongue (lets celebrate your special day with a drink).

Yeah, my day got even better- as I had to ditch off to another do whereupon
arrival more champopos flowed until wee hours of the following day. Amen!
