Eskom hasn't found new CE!

Eyewitness News reports that Dames, who will finish with the power utility at the end of March, is not willing to remain in the role until a replacement is found.

Dames announced his resignation last year for personal reasons after three years in the job.

“I have been very accommodating up until now to extend it [my contract] until March. There is never a good time to do these things but maybe last week was a good indication of what it means to have my life back.”

Last week Eskom came under fire for instituting load-shedding across the country as demand for power reached a tipping point.

Dames warned that the power situation in the country remained under pressure.

“We have said to you since 2010 that the power situation in South Africa is constrained. That is still the case and remains a reality. I think we have done very well to maintain the lights.”

Meanwhile, at the time of publishing we had not solicited comments from the Public Enterprises department.
