FOLLOWING THE period of unrest in July, which affected 10 of its stores, African retailer Game began revamping some of its best-performing affected stores in line with its overall turnaround strategy – Retail Reimagined.
Shoppers visited stores in Jabulani Mall in Soweto and Chris Hani Crossing Mall in Vosloorus, which are the first of the looted stores to boast upgrades including a modernised look-and-feel and an improved store layout, which includes an interactive wellness area.
“The concept of ‘Retail Reimagined’ is about transforming and improving the customer experience. These specific stores are important to their respective communities and continue to attract increased foot traffic, which is why they are the first of 68 stores that we plan to revamp this year,” explains Andrew Stein, Vice President of Game.
A R5 000 voucher was awarded to the first customer to spend R500 or more in each store.
The stores include Game’s expanded categories such as clothing, wellness, party, baby and bestselling adult and children’s books.
“As we continue to move forward with our turnaround strategy, we will be officially re-opening a number of our affected stores in the coming months – including Empangeni, Pietermaritzburg CBD and Pinetown.
We continue to make positive strides in our strategy while remaining committed to our value proposition of offering a wide product range at unbeatable prices for our price-conscious consumers,” concludes Stein.
