Kelly Khumalo taken off stage by cops!

Khumalo was wanted by Hillbrow police in Johannesburg after she allegedly assaulted the wife of Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa in a love triangle dispute on the M1 South last month.

A police officer close to the case said the investigating officer and his colleagues went to Khumalo’s parental home in Vosloorus last Saturday afternoon but did not find her.

Their informant told them that Khumalo was due to perform at Jabulani Amphitheatre in Soweto in the evening.

They then barrelled to the venue, which was packed to the rafters, where they found her preparing to take to the stage with her band members.

They ordered her, in front of the bemused crowd, to go outside to their police vehicle, where they obtained a warning statement from her and left.

“The police will then send her statement to the director of public prosecutions for a decision whether or not to prosecute. But they will first have to obtain statements from Kelly’s sister and Senzo. What frustrates the investigations team is that Senzo is not cooperating at all and this will mean that Mandisa does not get justice done quickly,” said the officer, who did not want to be named because he is not authorised to speak to the media.

According to police documentation, Khumalo found Meyiwa chatting to his wife, Mandisa, on the highway.

She parked her car and walked to them.

It is alleged that Mandisa walked to the passenger door and tried in vain to open it as it was locked.
She then walked back to Meyiwa and asked him to unlock the door.

Without any provocation, it is alleged, Khumalo started assaulting Mandisa with open hands.

Khumalo’s younger sister, who was sitting in the award-winning artist’s car, allegedly also attacked Mandisa.

“Mandisa sustained injuries to her face after the two scratched her on her face with their nails,” said the officer.

Khumalo could not be reached for comment.

Gauteng police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini did not respond to questions by the time of publication.
