New SASSA black card replaces gold one’s

POSTBANK has introduced a new payment method: the Postbank black card.

This convenient and secure card will streamline the process of accessing Sassa grant funds for millions of beneficiaries across the country.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has partnered with Postbank to introduce a new banking solution for its beneficiaries: the Mzansi Debit Card. This card aims to provide a more convenient and accessible way for Sassa grant recipients to manage their finances.

Sassa Grants

Sassa offers various grants to support vulnerable South Africans, including:

  • Older Persons pension grant
  • Disability grant
  • War Veterans grant
  • Care Dependency grant
  • Foster Child grant
  • Child Support grant
  • Child Support grant Top-Up  
  • Grant-in-aid
  • Social Relief of Distress

The Mzansi Debit Card is a replacement for the previous Sassa gold card. It offers a range of features, such as:

  • Transaction convenience: Make payments for goods and services without cash.
  • ATM and Post Office access: Withdraw funds and perform other transactions nationwide.
  • Linked debit and credit orders: Manage monthly expenses effectively.

The Mzansi Debit Card is currently being rolled out in Gauteng. Sassa beneficiaries in the province can collect their new cards at select Boxer and Pick n Pay stores.

  • Pick n Pay Stores: Katlehong, Alberton, Johannesburg, Atteridgeville, Alexandra, Vosloorus, Bedfordview, Benoni, Boksburg, Vanderbijlpark, Dobsonville, Soweto, Krugersdorp, Lenasia, Southgate, Vosloorus, Soweto
  • Boxer Stores: Johannesburg, Midrand, Soweto, Pretoria

The Mzansi Debit Card is available exclusively to South African citizens with a valid ID. Customers can only hold one Mzansi account.

Account balances are capped at R25,000. Daily withdrawals are limited to R5,000.
