Close to R25million compensation would be given to victims of the callous train crash that happened yesterday at Denver Station.
This was confirmed by the group chief executive at Passenger Rail Agency of SA, Lucky Montana.
This follows the unfortunate crash of two Metrorail and Business Express trains, both owned by Prasa.
Although unconfirmed, 240 passengers were injured and 1 died.
“Our thoughts are with fallen victims and those injured. Having said that, we shall compensate R25m to aid where possible, “says the sobbing Montana.
“We will advise families of those injured and who passed-on to approach our offices both in Pretoria and Johannesburg for compensation. Another advise, please come to us personally instead of going the legal route to avoid the lengthy process.”
According to Lesedi Mapheto, Prasa Rail head of communication the briefing yesterday outlined the cause of the accident.
