ANC recalls Zuma once and for all, as we anticipated

Pondering his next move? Ousted ANC deployee Jacob Zuma has been recalled by his organization. The same fate was experienced by former Pres Thabo Mbeki, who was recalled by Zuma himself.

The decision by the NEC (ANC highest decision-making body) to recall its deployee was taken after exhaustive discussion on the impact such a recall would have on the country, the ANC and functioning of the government, read a media statement.

“The decision to recall is in accordance with rule 12.2.21.2 of the ANC Constitution” continued the press statement.

It has been reported that Zuma has been ‘tough and showing middle finger’ to the NEC following transition talks initiated by ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Its’ unclear if the recall and subsequent resignation of Zuma as SA President; forms part of the exit plan for State to continue providing legal support amid throngs of court cases he’s facing and whether his family will be protected as well?

ANC’s secretary general Dr Ace Magashule, who alongside spokesperson Pule Mabe and Jessie Duarte, addressed large media contingent, did not elaborate on the above matters, suffice to say talks are still on going with Zuma.

It is critical that South African’s are united around the task of growth, job creation and economic transformation.

“The decision will be communicated publicly through appropriate forums to all structures of the ANC, Alliance structures and all mass democratic formations”.

Meanwhile, the United Democratic Movement (UDM) welcomes the decision to recall Mr Jacob Zuma as the President of the Republic of South Africa (SA).

It has taken far too long for this to happen, once it became patently clear (years ago) that he was not fit to hold the highest office in the Country. We can rightly say that the African National Congress (ANC) only reached this decision because of the continued, consistent pressure exerted by opposition parties; civil society; and the media, who played a critical role in exposing institutionalised corruption such as #GuptaLeaks.

We hope that Mr Zuma’s departure from office also signals a departure from this almost cult-like hero-worshiping of certain individuals just because they have “struggle credentials”, says party leader General Bantu Holomisa.

Democratic Alliance says the only way to remove Jacob Zuma as President of our country is for Parliament to do so through a Motion of No Confidence.
