Community builder Victor Sidambe to be buried this weekend as investigations are on going

He was speaking at outside the house of murdered brother Victor Sidambe on Wednesday afternoon, as throngs of mourners made their way to pay their last respect to the man, whom many revered as a friend, brother and provider.

Victor was gunned down on Monday while jogging in his neighbourhood Buccleugh, by unknown four gunmen driving a white sedan, with tinted windows, in what has been described as a hit.

Elder brother City Sindambe confirmed to this reporter that eight bullets were pumped into his body.

“I had a chat with him about going to jog since it was getting late and being jolly as he was, jokingly said ‘I’m feeling Corona on my body and wanna take it out, so wena take a chill pill’. Suddenly, we heard security alarms and sirens going off.

As we walked out to check what was happening since it was getting late and Victor had not returned from his jog, we saw cops and private security company and some community members gathered around and to our surprise it was my brother lying in pool of blood, helpless in his shots,” said bra City, pointing to me the direction he was shot.

“His phone was also taken. Yes, this was a hit because they made sure they turned his body as they shot him both in the head and chest. They wanted him dead,” says bra City, who also struggled to talk but also confirmed the car was traced in both Tembisa and Polokwane with false number plates.

“It was a stolen car,” he said.

As a family we await pathology reports, continued bra City.

Sir Vic was a people’s person. I met him through the late Tshepo Sekese who at the time was SAFA Community Liaison. Our relationship grew until his untimely death on Monday.

Vic contributed tremendously to communities that his business operated, and built houses, libraries as part of Sidas CSI and Trans Gariep Infra- a housing and construction company.

A teetotaller- and his involvement in sport and being an active person, particularly football, his company provided security services to PSL and clubs such as Kaizer Chiefs and BidVest Wits.

As a result of his astounding work, he met then Pres Jacob Gedleyehlekiza Zuma, on several occasions met current deputy Pres David Mabusa, Ministers, Mayors, MECs and business figures, amongst others.

Sidas also provided services to Prasa but due to the Public Protector’s findings its contract was withdrawn.

A man who lived his life to the fullest, Vic was a snappy dresser and more than often ladies were left wanting…(yes pun intended).

Police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo said that they were searching for the suspects.

“For now, are interviewing everyone who was in the vicinity. We appeal to anyone who might have information to call the nearest police station or the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111,” Masondo said.

At the time of his death he was 54.

‘Sir Vic’, Nqoba, chairman, boss and community builder who helped whoever, whenever will be given a fitting send off in the form of memorials today and burial on Saturday.

RIP Nqoba…
