Army infiltrate Alex ‘so be scared looters’ you’re warned

This to try and calm the situation not far from Alexandra Mall.

The army arrived in full swing and began shooting in the air to disperse looters as taxis were strewn along the streets.

Earlier, cops were overwhelmed by looters from young-ones to mothers. Some have expressed its no longer about Zuma but more about looting and thuggery.

Close to 19 deaths have been confirmed since the sporadic acts of looting and anarchy in Gauteng.

This was confirmed by the Premier of Gauteng, David Makhura during his visit to the Ndofaya Mall in Meadowlands today.

He was accompanied by MEC for Safety Faith Mazibuko and other security clusters.

The visit was to determine the extent of the damage made to the Mall and the stampede that resulted in multiple deaths.

The Premier confirmed that 10 people died at the Mall during looting and told SABC News that 19 people have died in the province since the start of the violence while more than 400 have been arrested.

“The recent sporadic acts of violence and lawlessness continue to endanger the lives and livelihoods and have led to the destruction of property,” said Makhura in a statement, appealing to the people of Gauteng to desist from lawless acts.

Makhura said the unrest in the province has overwhelmed law enforcement and slowed down the COVID-19 vaccination drive.

During his walk-about some parts of Soweto were quite as Police and Army presence quelled any looting that has besieged both Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.

Durban has seen flames of fire mostly in factories, were the numbers in both cities has now grown to 45.

Some residents have vowed to form community policing as they would not allow any looting or protests to take place in their neighbourhoods.

In Vosloorus, East Rand, residents are still continuing with looting spree as cops still battle to control the situation.

Questions have been asked on whether this should not be declared “state of emergency” and when will visible army be present?
