Yes, music-fundis will tell you unashamedly that Stimela and Ray are in unison albeit, at the time of his passing he was no longer appearing with them, citing “wanted to groom more Stimelas”.
Stimela on its own is a major draw card but the organizers went step further to include another living legend and Soweto born Sipho “Hotstix” Mabuse in the line-up, scheduled for September 8 at The Birchwood Hotel& OR Tambo Conferencing Centre.
Also set to perform on the Birchwood stage is the Soweto Opera Quadro, four classically trained singers from Soweto.
Since their formation in 2003, the group has become locally and internationally renowned for their African Jazz Opera, Classical Jazz, Afro-pop and contemporary genres.
Included on the evening is The Levites, who will make their much awaited return to captivate the audience with their Afro-Soul sounds.
Come and immerse yourself down memory lanes with the likes of Fire, Passion and Ecstacy. Its’ gonna be lit, ek se!
In partnership with the City of Ekurhuleni, the Mail & Guardian, the Sowetan and SAfm resident MC and motivational speaker, Hector Motivator, along with comedians’ Schoolboy and Tshekidi Moneymore will be providing plenty of hilarious local entertainment.
Indulge in a delicious meal and a complimentary glass of wine, by booking your table of 10 at R4 500 or R450 per a person.
It begins from 8pm.
