Brazing the cold. Sun City resort executives forgone their luxury and slept in the cold during the Sun City Sympathy Sleepout last week.

This follows the annual Sun International Sympathy SleepOut™ at the resort by the company’s executives, media and guests recently.

The purpose of the charity is to experience plummeting temperatures, with no shelter and brutal cold and hardships people living on the streets endure every day.

The Sun City Sympathy SleepOut™ happens on the same evening as with the Sun International CEO SleepOut™ hosted in Johannesburg-Nelson Mandela Bridge, July 28.

The concept was first initiated by Australians in 2006.

In SA, the inaugural SleepOut came into being last in June 2015, and thus far has raised more than R26 million, from the country’s top business leaders who partake every year.

Deserving children’s charities in the North West are, Itekeng Orphanage in Phatsima Village, Godisanang OVC in Mafenya Village and Ledig OVC in Ledig Village.

“Spending the night out in the cold on a winter’s night was an eye-opener for everyone who participated. We want to thank everyone who kindly supported our campaign by making a donation.

Our local children’s charities depend heavily on the support they receive from the public and local businesses in order to continue providing their invaluable services to their communities,” says Mike van Vuuren, managing Executive at Sun City.

Mike van Vuuren(Sun City Resort General Manager), Johan Scheepers (General Manager: Hospitality), Aubrey Nappie (Sun City HR Executive) and Raul De Lima (Sun City Resort General Manager), took part.
