Pres Zuma gets a rousing welcome but EFF, DA has none of it!

Tensions were high in the National Assembly on Thursday as MPs from the Economic Freedom Fighters insisted that their question on when President Jacob Zuma would pay back the money used to effect security upgrades to his Nkandla homestead, should be the first order of business.

Before Zuma could take to the podium for his fourth question-and-answer session for the year, several EFF MPs jumped up objecting to their question on Nkandla only being placed last on the question paper.

“We want our question to be prioritised…,” said EFF MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi as he claimed other opposition parties had “colluded” with the ANC to have the question placed last.

Ndlozi said the question was placed last so that when the allocated time for Thursday’s sitting had ended, the House would be adjourned and the question would go unanswered.

Speaker Baleka Mbete promised the EFF no question would go unanswered.

Zuma was then allowed to take to the podium.
